Arb-

how in heck did you get a post from Oct 7th to appear as a reply to one from Nov. 14th - and all the others from Oct 7th to bump up in this thread?

When I revise an old post, it shows up in the recent posts box but not on the current forum page.

Is the secret that you revise the 1st post in a thread that you started?

This is the craziest thread - date-wise - I've ever seen.

and little of it makes any sense to the uninitiated!

I just wanna know - how'd you and the others do it - bouncing back and forth from one chrono synclastic infundibulum to another...

ai-yi-yi!

cream-puff ... as NC says in his reply to yours, he tweaked his original post, thus changing the date of his post; and my only crime is being a part of this thread that got thrust to the top of the forum upon the edit job; best leave it there and not think too much on it ... Arb.

the early wacky ones were all on etree so they wouldn't appear on this forum if I revive them.

Then, there's cut and paste...

nyaaah haaah haaaah haa...

the cream-puff knows what evil lurks in the threads of mine!

Forum: GratefulDead Subject: Chronological order of posts

There are several ways to review forum posts.

The front page at archive shows them in chronological order, regardless of their parent thread's place in the timeline.

The Forums page shows the most recent post only in each forum.

The specific collection page that has the forum at the bottom orders posts by the chronological order of the parent post with tree branches away towards the right to indicate replies.

The RSS feed from that page is much like the archive front page but forum specific.

If you go back and revise your thread parent post, it bumps it up on the forum page. Even though the replies technically came after, the parent thread date indicates when it was revised.

I was deleting crap I said to persons when feeding into flame wars I should have ignored, but since you cannot delete at thread with replies the only option is to revise the post, sorry for the confusion.

Somehow it seemed as though the farm had grown richer without making the animals themselves any richer— except, of course, for the pigs and the dogs.

admittedly, things can get easily out-of-hand around here, but except for the fact that Rich is a Sox fan, i've got no problems with him; he is he and i is i and you are you, quite simple really

All too true, Arb.

EDIT: Not wanting to appear harsh, let me rephrase my previous thought. Self-promotion in and of itself is not a bad thing, but there may be such a thing as a little overkill, no?

SDH – Not for the first time, I’m in agreement with you. Noisecollector has made the transition from being an occasionally amusing presence to a non-stop self-aggrandising bore. I honestly can’t see any qualitative difference between him using the forum to advertise his product and the Nike-spammers who bedevil us by doing the same thing. You’re right of course that he can post whatever he wishes – I just wish he’d rein it in a little.

This place is getting to be like a public park. Some people like to come here to meet friends and shoot the breeze in the open air. Others pass through with their ghettoblasters on full blast, oblivious to everyone else, dropping litter and letting their mangy dogs crap all over the place.

other than free music and witty banter it dosn't seem like NoiseCollector is trying to push anything on anyone who dosn't like it that way. NoiseCollector just wants to share and they are just looking out for the greater good for all who might be involved. sometimes NoiseCollector gets mad when we feel the yin is being seperated from the yang. note the writers smooth transisition from first person to third and then back again. now we be havin sum fun mon.

The ghetto blasters I can somewhat tolerate. It's the unwashed drunks sprawled out under the statue of Robert E. Lee who will occasionally make unkind remarks to passing school children.

Good to hear from you again. I haven't had a chance lately to use any culturally insensitive barbs. Good to see you back.

ADDENDUM: Rob, had some Glenlivet French Oak 15 Year Old last night. THAT is some smooth nectar, indeed.

Whewww...that got old fast--having to check on your username everytime to be sure it's really you...as long as you're talking about drinking and sharing barbs with Rob I am relatively confident it's the real you, or at least the old you. I suppose this means the fake you was just a passing fancy. It's really going to be troublesome when I don't know who I am here...

Good sir, I shall never get out of the way no matter how many pigs have taken wing.

The questioning of one's own identity has become quite a touchy subject as of late. Well, if someone sees fit to assume my name from time to time, I'll actually take it as a compliment.

Well, friend, perservere in your quest to know who you are and hope that we can all do the same. If I had a website I'd plug it here, but alas, no.

Just to clarify...I meant the other SDH--the one that got out of the way. I know you too well to imagine that you would yield to a mere flying porcine soon to be meat by product, unless of course you were on the way to a diamondbacks game where a fine brat might come in handy.

Howdy, Will! - I hadn't noticed that SDH had been amongst the recent hijackees. The unmitigated gall of some people, eh? I guess I shall have to go back and amuse myself with what was said in the good fellow's name.

Must say I'm beginning to feel a little bit left out because no one has, to my knowledge, ever attempted to hijack me. Not even worthy of the spammers attention apparently - I shall start to get a complex.

Wouldn't spend too much time going over the events of the last few days. Lets just say that the lunatics took over the asylum for a while. And perhaps are still in charge as we speak. Any backwards investigating will only discouraging you from participating here, and that would be a shame.

Sounds like a seriously fine libation. Patrick – go down well with a smooth Morning Dew on the side I’d imagine. It’s remarkable how the choice of wood affects the character of the whisky. A lot depends on what was in the cask before the whisky got there as I’m sure you know. Sherry casks, bourbon casks, and sometimes even rum casks, all impart a distinctive flavour. Its interesting, I think, that bourbon distillers favour freshly made casks for their product, but Scotch whisky distillers prefer their casks to have been broken in first, as it were. You can spend a very enjoyable evening sampling, for example, various varieties of Glenmorangie: Burgundy wood, Port wood, Sherry wood and Cognac wood and even Truffle Oak.

I’ll bet your mouth is watering at the thought.
